This Black History Month, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Black innovators who have shaped the defense, cybersecurity, and engineering industries. Their work has paved the way for advancements in national security and technology.
Dr. Gladys West – A mathematician whose work in satellite geodesy helped develop GPS technology, a critical tool for modern defense and military operations.
Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr. – The first Black general in the U.S. Air Force and leader of the Tuskegee Airmen, who broke barriers and set new standards for excellence in military aviation.
Dr. Mark Dean – A pioneering computer scientist and engineer who co-invented the color PC monitor and helped shape modern computing—critical for today’s cybersecurity efforts.
We recognize the power of diversity in driving innovation and national security forward. By celebrating these trailblazers, we honor the legacy of excellence that continues to inspire the next generation of engineers and defense professionals.
